Adult Education: Jewish History Class
The first year of our two-year “Introduction to Humanistic Judaism” course, these classes will explore the major events, characters and ideas of Jewish history, from our earliest origins to modern times. This course meets two or three Monday evenings a month at 8:00 PM at the Kol Hadash office, 175 Olde Half Day Road in Lincolnshire, and is open to any Kol Hadash member to drop in. Those considering pursuing an adult Bar or Bat Mitzvah at the conclusion of the two year class will receive a course packet with assigned readings and discussion questions. The complete 2008-09 class list will be posted soon.
COMING IN 2009-10!
The second of our two-year “Introduction to Humanistic Judaism” course, this class will explore the major building blocks of Jewish culture, from life cycle ceremonies and holidays to literature, music, food and languages. We also explain the basic ideas of Humanistic Judaism, as well as the “roots” of our approach to cultural Jewish identity and personal philosophy. This class will begin in Fall 2009.
