Other Educational Opportunities

In addition to the educational programs offered by Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation, there are several other opportunities to deepen your Jewish and Humanist education.

  • The International Institute for Secular Humanistic Judaism offers seminars for adult education at various locations across North America. Our Rabbi Adam Chalom is the Dean for North America of the IISHJ. You can see their upcoming schedule of seminars at www.iishj.org. The IISHJ also sponsors a biennial Colloquium on topics important to the Jewish and Humanist worlds. Colloquium ’09 will take place October 23-25, 2009, at the Birmingham Temple in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

  • The Society for Humanistic Judaism holds adult conferences every other year, where members and leaders from communities and congregations in North America come to learn, share and celebrate together. These conferences are run in conjunction with the annual HuJews Teen and Young Adult Conclave. The next SHJ conference will be April 23-25, 2010, in Toronto, Canada.

  • Rabbi Chalom is often invited to offer presentations by other organizations in the Chicagoland area. See our calendar for upcoming events with groups such as Americans United for the Separation of Church and State and Oasis. If you would like Rabbi Chalom to speak with your organization, please contact him at info@KolHadash.com or 847-347-3003.

  • The Dawn Schuman Institute of the Community Foundation for Jewish Education offers many adult learning opportunities in the North Shore suburbs, from Hebrew to Jewish history and culture. Their catalog of courses is available online.
