KOL HADASH ADULT EDUCATION

Learning is a lifetime pursuit, especially at Kol Hadash. We want to know not only the stories and legends about Jewish origins and the Jewish experience, but the actual history as we can best discover archaeology, linguistics and other studies.

And our curriculum is not limited to Judaism. Our true goal is to be a well-rounded person, rooted in Jewish identity but open to the world around us. This is why philosophy, comparative religion, current events, literature, and science round out our regular and occasional offerings.

Kol Hadash serves a range of adult learners, from dabblers to diligent students.  Rabbi Chalom will conduct three courses of study this year:

  • Year 2 in the rabbi's two-year Introduction to Humanistic Judaism consists of the 2011-12 survey of Jewish Culture and Secular Jewish Philosophy. These Monday-evening classes follow last year's classes on Jewish History. All members are welcome to jump in and attend one or any class at any time.
  • On selected Sunday mornings during Sunday School (9:30-11:00 AM at Deerfield High School), Rabbi Chalom leads Adult Education classes on a variety of topics, from Bible study to explorations of holidays to politics.
All Kol Hadash Adult education classes are free of charge and open to the public. If you have questions or for more information, please email us or call 847-347-3003.
