Kol Hadash

All Kol Hadash Youth Education programming is on Sunday Mornings SUNDAY SCHOOL + HEBREW LEARNING: We have weekly Sunday School class for Kindergarten through Confirmation. Our classes are: K/1st grade, 2nd/3rd grade, 4th/5th grade, 6th/7th grade, and 8th/9th/10th grade Confirmation. Sunday School is at 9:30-11:30am with the exception of 6th/7th grade students who have Mitzvah Prep Class until 12:00pm. Our 5th grade students have Individual Hebrew Tutoring in half-hour sessions, which are scheduled by parents (either at Sunday School before class or during the week at our Tutor's office). PARENT-TOT: Preschool Jewish Discovery, our enrichment class for 2-6 year olds with a grown-up, meets monthly -- it is free and open to everyone. FAMILY PROGRAMS: On many Sundays, our whole school -- students, teachers, and families -- come together to celebrate Jewish holidays as well as for special programs on Jewish culture, community service activities and more. Open House & Sunday School Try Out -- We welcome non-members to join us - there is no expectation of a commitment by coming to this program. Adults join the Parents Meeting and children join their grade's class for the day with our Sunday School Try Out (with advance notice, please).

Our third annual soup-a-thon is on! We are joining Gorton Center for their French Onion Soup cooking class on Sunday January 31 at 4pm. This is a Zoom class and costs $15. Sociologist Schneur Zalman Newfield, who went through this process himself, has interviewed dozens of ultra-Orthodox Hasidic Jews who left their communities. Why did they leave? How do they make sense of their personal Exodus, and what do they think of their religious upbringing now? Newfield joins our Rabbi Adam Chalom for a fascinating conversation. These are difficult times! In our Women's Chat Group, we have shared our difficulties staying positive, relaxing, sleeping, and even breathing due to the stress around us. Joyce Hirsch has been teaching Feldenkrais for many years and will be leading our class. Feldenkrais is a method that improves each person’s awareness for moving with ease and thus reducing stress and anxiety. The results are feelings of calmness and possibilities. Joyce will be offering a Feldenkrais lesson every other Monday at 1:30 pm. These are easy gentle lessons, on a chair or lying on the floor. The result is relaxation and easier more coordinated movement. We hope that you will join us and learn how your body can feel better through these difficult times.
