Contributing Membership Guidance

It has always been Kol Hadash's philosophy and culture to welcome everyone regardless of ability to contribute financially. If you intend to become a Contributing Member of Kol Hadash and self-select your financial contribution, please consider the following per-household costs and suggested guidelines.

  • If you do not feel comfortable with a Supporting Membership, we suggest a minimum pledge of $1300 to cover the core activities of the congregation, which includes having Rabbi Chalom as a full-time rabbi, facility rental, music for services, etc.
  • If you intend to enroll a child in Sunday school, we suggest a minimum membership pledge of $1500. This amount plus Sunday school fees covers Kol Hadash’s cost per student. (Sunday school fees cover only about 25% of what we invest per student. The $625 shown in the chart above is the total cost of the school spread out evenly among all member households. It represents the portion of membership pledges that subsidize the school program.)
  • If you are primarily interested in High Holiday services, we suggest a minimum pledge of $750 per couple/family or $375 per individual, which is approximately the cost of High Holiday tickets over the past few years plus our affiliation and membership engagement expenses.
  • If this is your first year at Kol Hadash and you are unable to afford a higher amount, we suggest a minimum pledge of $365—$1 per day.
  • At minimum, we ask for a commitment of at least $125 to cover dues we pay to the Society for Humanistic Judaism for each member household, plus our printing and postage costs.
Whatever amount you choose,
everyone is welcome in our community.
