“Being a student at Kol Hadash Sunday School and part of this special community has truly taught me to be a selfless individual and also taught me to stand strong with what I believe in, as well as to always be open to the opinions and values of others.”

 — Jordyn F., Wheeling, Confirmed 2009

“We wanted to give our children an understanding of Jewish culture and traditions, but it was very important to us that our children be encouraged to question everything. We weren’t sure that such a combination existed until we discovered Humanistic Judaism.”

— Dan P., Deerfield

Kol Hadash is committed to Humanistic Jewish education for all ages.

Youth Education

Our Youth Education program helps children establish their Jewish identity through a well-defined, age-appropriate curriculum that focuses on living life based on integrity, honesty and personal responsibility.

B Mitzvah

Each family works with our Rabbi to create a uniquely personal B Mitzvah service (gender-neutral, non-binary term for “Bar Mitzvah” and/or “Bat Mitzvah”), including allowing each student to choose a topic they find meaningful. The topic can be based on any Torah portion, a Jewish-related research project, or a selection from other Jewish literature.

Youth Group

The Kol Hadash Youth Group is open to students in grades 8-12. Programming is decided by the group. Some meetings are purely social while others are devoted to community service or planning future events.

Adult Education

Our Adult Education program is rooted in Jewish identity, while exploring broader issues involving philosophy, comparative religion, current events, literature and science.
