Hebrew/Mitzvah Class

Sunday, January 19, 2020 22 Tevet 5780

11:10 AM - 12:00 PMDeerfield High School, 1959 Waukegan Road, Deerfield
Our Youth Education is all on Sunday mornings.

Students in 6th and 7th grade are in Sunday School class from 9:30-11:00 a.m. and then it is:
—6th grade Hebrew class from 11:10 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
—7th grade Mitzvah class from 11:10 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

To prepare for a B Mitzvah, our students complete a two-year program in Hebrew followed by private tutoring in their Torah portion and commentary or other project. Students practice reading and understanding each other’s B Mitzvah Hebrew readings, in order to become very familiar with both the pronunciation and the meaning of the readings. They also master simple Hebrew conversations, grammar, and vocabulary, as well as songs sung in Israel and at Kol Hadash. This class balances the need for B Mitzvah Hebrew reading skills with understanding Hebrew as a modern, living language.

B Mitzvah FAQ Session
Are you debating how (or whether) a Bar or Bat Mitzvah is right for your child? Are you feeling pressure because “how it’s supposed to be” and “how it’s always been done” isn’t a good fit for your family? Are you concerned that non-Jewish family members might not be allowed to participate fully? Are you looking for a custom celebration that will be both personal and
meaningful, balancing Jewish traditions and your unique family heritage?

Learn more about Kol Hadash’s unique B Mitzvah program — with no expectation of a commitment. A one-on-one information session can be in-person, by phone or email with Rabbi Adam Chalom, our Youth Education Director or our B Mitzvah Coordinator.

Please contact our B Mitzvah Coordinator, Leah Sosewitz, at mitzvah@KolHadash.com or 847-471-0170 to schedule a B Mitzvah FAQ Session or with questions about our B Mitzvahs.
