Our first COVID lockdown happened just before Purim last year. In some ways, the holiday provides useful parallels, particularly living under the fear of massive destruction. But celebrating joyful deliverance feels both premature and insensitive with so many lost. How should we find the balance of “a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance”?
