Are there limits to claiming famous Jews as “roots” of Humanistic Judaism? After all, claiming that Einstein’s science was secretly affected by his Jewish identity may not pass the smell test. And what about non-Jewish philosophers whose ideas we find truly inspirational, sometimes even more inspirational and relevant than Leviticus?
