Adult Education: The Books of the Maccabees (online)

    Sunday, Dec 6th 9:30a to 10:30a
When the rabbis chose what to include in the Hebrew Bible around 90 CE, they left out the books written by the Maccabee kings. Fortunately, they were preserved in the Septuagint, a Greek translation of the Bible that became the basis for the Christian Old Testament. What do these books tell us about the Maccabees, and about why the Rabbis left them out? Just in time for Hanukkah!
